Brand New Modern, Halal Indian Restaurant Meets the Lower East Side

Gazab recently just opened their doors to the public in the grand opening in early July. It’s a modern Indian restaurant serving delicious, innovative small bites and entrees.

Bok Choy Chaat

Bok Choy Chaat

Food: 9/10
We got the Bok Choy chaat as one of the appetizers and it was excellent. Crispy as you would expect and just enough masala flavor battered on it that produced a crispy bite. The 555 Szechuan wings were also great. It was mild in heat so most people would be able to tolerate it. The Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani was exquisite - the chicken was charred nicely that gave the biryani a wonderful smokey aroma. The Parsi Lamb Salli Boti was great to scoop up with garlic naan or eaten with plain white basmati rice. The fried onions garnished on top was a nice touch. For drinks we got Mango Lassi - and honestly it was one of the very few places that do Lassi right! It didn’t taste like a mango milkshake or taste like Shezan. It tasted like actual tart yogurt was put in!

Price: 6/10
The prices are more higher than you would expect. Probably due to the area. But portion does not necessarily meet price range. Quality is there though.

Atmosphere: 8/10
Very modern atmosphere. Medium sized, clean, open space.

Service: 7/10
Can get very busy. But I imagine food would come quicker if went at hours like 3-5pm. But the servers and owner are wonderful people. They constantly check up on you and are so nice. Not just to us but to everyone who was at the restaurant from what we saw.
