More Halal Birria in New York

There’s another halal birria place in town and this time it’s in the Lower East Side, Manhattan.

Birria LES serves a humble menu of tacos, mulitas, tostadas, esquite, and consomme.

Queso taco dipped in consomme

Food: 8/10
The meat taco was standard, pretty much what I expected! It was tangy, flavorful, and had the right alight of meat in each taco. Although smaller than other places, you can still get it with queso. The consumé was good but a little too oily for our liking. Mulita and tostada were excellent. Perfect crunch and generous amount of meat. The esquite was decent but we think there could have been less salt. Hopefully these are just little errors that was for that day only.

Price: 7/10
Perhaps due to the location, but many may see the taco and it’s size to be more on the pricier side. One taco is $3, while a taco with queso is $4.

Atmosphere: 8/10
For the humble space it has, it is decent and clean. You can either sit at the tables, by the stool with the open windows, or outside with standup seating.

Service: 6/10
It did take about 15 minutes for the order to be ready. I imagine it can be slow on busier days. But that’s probably because of the nature of the cooking process of the taco.
