New Jersey Spots of the Month (December)

We visited Burger Station and Kulchay, both relatively new establishments that opened up in New Jersey!

  1. Burger Station

Food: 8/10
We tried the Station Burger which consists of double patties, lettuce, tomato, mozzarella sticks, halal turkey bacon, and chipotle mayo. This was very good, although it was quite a lot to finish, the flavor of the patties were on point and the accompaniment of mozz sticks and turkey bacon made up a very dynamic bite. Hearty burger, good for those who have a big appetite. They ask you how you would like your meat to be cooked, which is a big plus! We asked for medium rare, got something closer to medium but still good. The Mushroom burger was also very good considering one of us doesn’t like mushrooms but she seemed to enjoy it a lot. The patty was tender and juicy topped with creamy mushrooms. It is also one of their best selling and we understand why. The Spicy Chicken sandwich was one of our favorites. Fried to perfection, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with cheese, jalapeños, and siracha, full of flavor! We also got the Station Box that consists of a bed of fries with cut of fries chicken tenders with cheese sauce smothered on top that was really addicting. We got the Oreo and Strawberry shakes that were thicc and delish. 😋

Price: 9/10
Single burger is around $5/6 and a meal is $10 which is pretty good compared to other places we’ve visited.

Atmosphere: 6/10
Just your average burger joint with 4 tables. We are hoping they can expand one day inshaAllah but for now the space can seat about 14 people and can feel a little cramped.

Service: 10/10
Food comes fast - workers here are super lovely!

2. Kulchay

Food: 8/10
We ordered the Chicken Tikka Naanizza and Lamb Keema Kulcha. Let’s talk about the first - the Chicken Tikka naanizza was Stuffed (with a capital “S”) with well marinated meat topped and cheese. Very hearty and full of good flavor. Best eaten straight out the oven. The Lamb Keema Kulcha had our admins divided. One really loved it and thought it was well made! The other found a really bad “lamby” taste/smell to it if you know what we mean. We also tried the Nutella roll which was okay - wasn’t crazy about it. Tried the Dirty Chai (espresso shot added) and Doodh Patti Chai. Wasn’t a fan of the first but the Doodh Patti Chai was really good!

Price: 7.5/10
Naanizzas go for $10-$13 and Kulcha’s go from $3-$9.

Atmosphere: -/-
Won’t necessarily rate this because it’s kind of take-out oriented. Although there is really nice art on the wall, which has 4-5 seats below it.

Service: 9/10
Everyone here is really friendly and the food is made ready at a reasonable time.
