The Only Dungan Restaurant in New York

Lagman House is located at the edge of Brooklyn in Sheepshead Bay. While many may consider this as Uyghur cuisine, the Dungan people, a sect of the Chinese speaking Muslims, also share the same cuisine.

Food: 9/10
We tried the dumpling soup, lamian, manti, samsa, and stir-fried beef. Each dish had a rich, bursting flavor. The dumpling (filled with beef) soup was filled with cilantro and dill so it was intensely fragrant. We had to order a classic lamian (also known as lagman) just because. And it was great. We loved hand-pulled noodles. This sturdy noodle is a signature dish of Central Asian, Uyghur, and Dungan cuisine. Manti was also fantastic and just what you would expect - colossal sized dumplings generously filled with meat and veggies. Samsa was great - crispy outside, fluffy interior, and onion-meat filling - expectations met. The stir fried beef was okay. Though the flavor was there, the meat amounted to a little portion and was tough.

Price: 7/10
Prices are a bit more higher than what you would expect given the portion sizes for some items here.

Atmosphere: 9/10
It's very spacious and big to seat about 30 people. The interior is really nautical and the walls are adorned by a mixture of Dungan culture art pieces and NYC-scapes.

Service: 8/10
The food does take a while to come. But the server was very attentive in meeting all your needs.
