A Quintessential Bangladeshi Restaurant

Boishakhi is a quintessential, no-frills Bangladeshi restaurant. If you haven't ever tried Bangladeshi food before, this is a really good spot to try it at!

Assorted appetizers: chicken samosas, tuna kebabs, shrimp kebabs, shingara

Food: 9/10
We tried an assortment of items such as goat biryani, beef biryani, samosas, shingaras, tuna kebabs, shrimp kebabs, chicken kebabs, bone-in meat, and fish! We were so delighted by the food and distinctiveness of flavor from each dish. We really enjoyed the shrimp kebab the most - never tried that but it was so pleasant to eat. The biryanis were aromatic, fragrant, and just overall very delicious. Bangladeshi biryani is typically made with kalijeera rice, a small-grained rice that packs so much flavor in itself. The meat in the biryanis were tender and soaked up all that flavor. The chicken samosas and the Bengali shingara (vegetable filling) were fresh and crispy. We could snack on those all day. Although the fish has a lot of bones, it’s worth giving a try. The fish it self was very soft with was well flavored curry. It could be enjoyed alone or mixed with rice.

Price: 8/10
Prices are relatively modest. You will be able to get a heaping amount of variety of food for under $25.

Atmosphere: 8/10
For a no-frills restaurant, the inside can seat about 20 people and the atmosphere is very busy and bustling. It's acts as a chill spot for a lot of Bengali people, particularly the men.

Service: 10/10
As this was an invite, we were treated with the most amazing hospitality by the owner Rimi apu and her staff. However, we were observing other patrons in the restaurant and they seem to get their food pretty quickly. You point to what you want in the hot station and they pack it for you or plate it and bring it to your table! There's not much of a waiting game here.
