New Pakistani Comfort Food in New Jersey

Khokha is Piscataway, NJ’s newest halal spot. They specialize in Pakistani-American quick comfort foods in a beautiful airy space.

We went into Khokha with high expectations and we were thoroughly satisfied! The lamb chops really are the star of the show, and we wanted to keep ordering more. They are so juicy, flavorful, cooked to the right temperature (we got medium) and very well-seasoned. You can order their main menu items with either pulled beef or crispy chicken. The pulled beef is slow cooked and bursting with flavor, and the crispy chicken has a little spicy kick and crunch to it. We got the chicken paratha roll, big cheese sandwich with pulled beef, and loaded fries with crispy chicken. Everything is spiced perfectly. We loved the cheese pull of their cheese sandwich, and the pairing with the pulled beef was such a comforting bite. We also got the pulled beef burger which was delicious, but we felt the cole slaw with the pulled beef didn’t have as much textural contrast as we had hoped. They offer milkshakes which were so creamy and well-made. The owner measures all of his ingredients prior to making, so it’s a consistent delicious shake each time! They also offer chai Friday to Sunday which is made in small batches and the perfect end of such a hearty meal. We highly recommend this.

Khokha is a modern spacious restaurant with ample seating and even countertop seating for a diner vibe. You can see into the kitchen through a large window which we found to be nice. We also loved the fresh flowers on each table!

Service: 9/10
You order up front at the counter, take a table number, and find a seat. Food is brought up hot to your table. The restaurant itself is very busy! There may be a bit of a wait time or order mixup, but they are very fast and accommodating! The owners are so sweet and check up on you to make sure everything with your dining experience went well..
