Halal Hand-Pulled Noodles Comes to New York

Update as of 9/2/2020: This restaurant is no longer halal.

Xi’an cuisine and BBQ has made its way to a humble restaurant on the strip of Broadway in Astoria.

And it’s great! And decently priced.

Food: 10/10
The food was beyond our expectations. We got the Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup, Braised Beef Stew Noodle Soup, Special Tasting Kebab Platter for 2, and House Special Beef Tripe. All noodle dishes are in soup. The kebab platter was probably our favorite because it was so flavorful, soft, and seasoned so well! The soups are huge in portion and might as well feed 2 people per bowl because they give you so much noodles. You can even choose the thickness of your noodles from Extra Thin to Wide. The soups are good and the meats are so soft and tender.

Price: 9/10
For a very nice brick and mortar restaurant, the prices are so good you almost feel bad. Noodle dishes range from $11-$14. Apps $6-$9. Kebabs are average $7 for 3 pieces.

Atmosphere: 8/10
It’s cozy, clean, and super modern. It’s an actual sit down and enjoy restaurant. When chef starts assembling the noodles the entire room gets quiet and everyone starts recording - he seems to enjoy it though! The seating area is medium sized and seats about 18 people.

Service: 10/10
The servers and owners are very nice and were so accommodating. They’re so friendly and will bring your food as fast as possible. Our noodles came in under 3 minutes and kebabs under 10.
