Halal Restaurant Serving Italian Pastas and Pizzas

The Grounds of Brooklyn is a Brooklyn restaurant serving halal food. Though is it not Italian-owned, they serve a plethora of different kinds of Italian eats, such as pastas and pizzas. The entire menu is halal. It is owned by the same owners of Milk and Honey Cafe, which is next door, that is also halal.

Food: 6.5/10
Let's start off with the mocktails! We got the Virgin Passion and Roy Rogers. The virgin passion was pretty good but the roy rogers tasted like Dr. Pepper 🥲 wish it was more of a creative drink where it did not taste like that for $8. For appetizers, we got the arancini di roso and meatball pomodoro. Arancini are basically fried rice balls with a variety of stuffings such as mozzarella cheese or meat. There are three different types of arancini's you get - bolognese & basil, mushroom & mozzarella, ragu con piselli & mozzarella. We very much liked all of them. The meatball pomodoro was okay - it comes in a pool of "pomodoro" meaning tomato sauce. It was kind of tough to eat and dry. But dipping it in the tomato sauce made the experience a little better. One of the mains we got was Pappardelle with braised beef cheek, bread crumbs, orange zest and parmesan. This was okay, just needed a little more salt. We also tried the Agnolotti, with brown butter and sage, braised chicken filling served with toasted pine nuts. This was fantastic. Super flavorful from the sage and butter. It was like mini raviolis.

Price: 6/10
For the amount that comes on your plate, prices can be seen as very expensive for some. The mocktails were each $8, appetizers were $12 and $14, and the pasta plates were each $16. Pasta prices are fine - but the appetizer to portion ratio did not seem justifiable.

Atmosphere: 10/10
Very beautiful atmosphere. It has very clean, rustic vibes and the space is pretty big. The aesthetic is up there!

Service: 5/10
The server we had could have done a better job. We noticed that they were very inattentive. They were was nice though. The food also takes quite some time to come.
