New, Unassuming Halal Steakhouse in Queens

The Zafran Grille is a brand new, second-floor steakhouse in the presence of Jamaica, Queens. This place is really nice for a family evening out. Their menu consists of a variety of American cuisine. They have a variety of steaks from NY Strip to Ribeye to Porterhouse.

Boneless Ribeye Steak

Food: 7.5/10
To start off we ordered spicy calamari and crab stuffed mushrooms. Both were very delicious. The spicy calamari had pickled peppers which gave a really good kick of heat to it. For mains we had boneless ribeye steak, spaghetti & meatballs, lamb chops, and the Zafran burger. The boneless ribeye itself was pretty good and it was easy to cut into. You get two sides for each steak order - we got sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes was dry and could have had more flavor or would do well with some extra cream and butter. The spaghetti & meatballs were good - just needed a little more salt but the meatballs were perfectly flavored. The lamb chops was also soft and easy to bite into but just needed a little more salt. We really liked the Zafran burger - it has cheese, spicy sauce, mango, and jalapeño. For drinks we had mango mojito and Bengal breeze, both of which were great, we really liked the Bengal breeze as it was super tart and sweet. We also tried the malai chop at the end which was creamy, milky, and sweet.

It is on a second floor walk-up and can be easily missed if you’re not looking up at the signs. The interior is really nice - chandeliers, white linens, good vibes, can seat many people, and is clean.
