We Tried Out This Popular Bangladeshi Establishment

Khalil Biryani House (@khalil_biryani_house) is a well-known, almost iconic Bangladeshi restaurant in NYC. As the name implies, they serve a plethora of kinds of biryani using a variety of meats like goat, beef, and chicken. They also serve many other dishes like kebabs, noodles, curries, and tandoori items.

Tehari Biryani

Food: 6/10
To start off, we tried the chicken patty, chicken roll, and a shami kebab. The taste was fine but all of it was unfortunately very dry to the point where it was brittle. We got some really great cha to wash it down. Next, we had to get biryani (obviously). We tried the goat biryani and beef tehari biryani. The goat biryani was great, aromatic flavors greatly infused in the rice and meats. The beef tehari biryani however had a very chemical/microwaved taste to it. They do microwave the food to heat it up but only this biryani had that flavor to it which was really off-putting. Lastly, we couldn't leave without trying the chicken roast, a yogurt and onion based chicken that pairs well with white rice. This was delicious, succulent, and creamy.

Price: 8/10
Prices are between standard and a little more. Biryanis range from $8-$13.

Atmosphere: 7/10
There is dining space/sit-in but it's also focused on take-out. The hot food station and seating share the same floor. Can be a little cleaner.

Service: 9/10
Food comes quick and is served on ceramic dishes and is presented nicely. There is always a few servers walking back and forth to cater to your needs.
